Seamless Gutter Colors [Guide] for 2023

gutter color guide

When picking out your new gutter’s color, you will most likely be surprised at the wide variety of gutter colors available.

Traditionally, we think gutters are white or perhaps an eggshell color. However, most gutter suppliers offer over 20+ gutter colors to choose from, and in our guide below, we will walk you through the following:

  1. What gutter colors can you select
  2. How to choose gutter colors for your home’s exterior

Standard Colors – Aluminum Gutter & Gutter Color Chart

Aluminum rain gutter colors feature painted aluminum, using high-quality paint with a factory-baked finish but are flexible for custom gutters. Below are standard traditional painted aluminum seamless gutter colors you can select from (sometimes suppliers vary based on availability and names of colors):

Estimate Total Footage

Estimate the linear distance in feet for your gutters and also your downspouts!

  1. You can use Google Maps to search for your home and use the measuring tool to measure your home, or simply use rough estimates (if the front of your home is 40' across and there is one long gutter, you can estimate that at 40').
  2. Downspouts are usually 13 feet for a one-story home and 23 feet for a two-story home. Count the number of downspouts you have in your home currently.

Remember, this is just an estimate; the final total will be calculated when our install team measures for materials.

1. Select Rain Gutter Colors to Compliment your Home

Curb appeal is a must; after landscaping, replacing your gutters is one of the easiest ways to make your home pop and stand out for much less! Your home’s aesthetics matter and matching gutters that compliment your home are a must. You wouldn’t want a dark blue house with antique ivory gutters. Proper color matching is vital!

Darks often go with darks and lights with light. However, a white house with black gutters is usually a good look when the roof is black too!

2. Match Your Siding or Exterior Paint Color

A simple way to choose the proper color match is to match your home’s exterior siding/paint to the gutter color chart. A dark brown gutter color will be perfect if you have dark brown siding.

Our team has physical color samples for these various reasons so you can match your siding to a gutter color and give you a general idea of the true colors from the list above!

3. Match Your Trim Color

Sometimes when looking for contrasting gutter colors, your best bet is to match the trim color. For example, a home with red siding will often have white trim. Therefore, white gutters would look best.

Always match your trim if you don’t want to match the siding!

4. Contrast Your Home’s Exterior Color

With so many gutter color options, many homeowners want to create curb appeal by selecting a contrasting gutter color. For example, the classic white house with a black roof looks amazing when you add black gutters. Brick homes can allow a homeowner to choose numerous colors, from rustic copper to white.

5. Match Your Roof

Similar to matching the trim on the exterior of your home, matching your roof is a go especially if you’re replacing your roof. A brick house with a new gray roof color looks classy with matching gutters. Black roofs always look amazing with black gutters, but black gutters must contrast well with the siding (see #4).

Frequently Asked Questions:

Should gutters match the roof of your house?

A current trend is to match your roof shingles to your gutters so long as the contrast looks OK with your home’s siding. Most of the time, matching your roof and gutter colors is a good look!

Should my gutters be darker than my roof color?

We typically don’t recommend darker gutters than your roof since it might create an atypical contrast. Matching your roof is ideal.

Are colored gutters more expensive than white ones?

Gutter color options are the exact cost as white gutters! Since all aluminum rain gutter colors are painted, the color selection doesn’t matter regarding pricing. The only thing that increases the price of channels is the size or if you choose a premium gutter color such as arm trough or duel tone paint. You can use our gutter calculator here to estimate the cost of your gutters!
